Unhappy alternator or battery or both???????

well i went out today and got a new alternator cause my old one killed the battery cause it wasn't charging the alternator. so i decided to get a new one and bought that and installed it and then i noticed that my volts looked good at 12.5v but when i would start to rev my volts stayed at 12.5v and also the oil pressure wouldn't go any higher than 45psi. so i put the new battery and the new alternator in and then i went on a drive to test it out. well the whole time my oil psi stayed at 35-45 and the volts stayed at 12.5 then later 12v and then it went down to 10v and then i just pulled over cause i started to lose pws. so i went to check the alt and to make sure that i tightend everything right and the bolt broke off of the alt. so right now i am through my 3rd bat and my second alt(it wasn't a reman either) any help would be good.thanks

Sounds like the alt is either not working or not connected properly. Have you checked all of the engine grounds and are the battery termainals nice and clean ? Make sure the point where the alt ataches to the engine is also clean, you could try running another ground from the battery to the alt. Is the b+ terminal on the alt attached tight and clean ? Just because its your second alt don't assume that can't be the problem, take it back to where you got it and have it bench tested. As far as the oil pressure goes you'll not get a precise reading untill the engine is fully warmed up, sometimes it takes as long as 20 mins before i get proper oil pressure readings.

Try resetting the car's computer. Open up the fuse box under the hood and pull the two fuses closest to the engine (EGI and Head I think) and leave them out for a few minutes. Pop them back in, and try the car out.

I know it sounds stupid, but a little while back I had accidentally drained the battery completely, and after jumpstarting it it was describing symptoms similar to yours, although my Tach stopped working too. Resetting fixed it. Apparently a low battery can mess with something in the computer.

do you think that maybe it could be a fuse under the hood that would cause my problems
