Alternator + to Battery + ???

Alternator + to Battery + ???

Just a quick question.. yeah i searched.. can i just run a wire from batt to alt ok? i would prob need a fuse in there.. but just askin to make sure.. thanks

Yes you can. Run a 8 gauge wire and probably good to run a fuse(near the battery) in case. I ran a 8 gauge Monster Speaker wire from battery to alt. and tapped in a 30A fuse near the battery.

I did this, and yes it probably should have a fuse. I didn't install one, but I did take extra care that the cable couldn't get damaged. I used 12GA stereo power cable and covered it in split convoluted tube like the factory looms. It protects very well and looks factory. I also securely cable-tied it so it couldn't rub against anything.

Since the higher charge will be coming off the alt, not the battery the fuse should be as close to the alt as possible. And shouldnt you be using an 80 amp fuse not a 30? Our alts max out put is 80 amps... so..
