Exclamation Alternator......2 wires on back.....whare do they end?

does anyone off the top of there head know where the 2 wires on the back side of the Alternator terminate at inside the car. Mine are brittle as sh*t. I lost my manuals in a flood and was hoping one of you Rotor heads had a quick answer.

On a series four the WHITE/BLACK wire puts a ground on a relay in the CPU when the alternator is NOT charging. That relay in turn puts a ground to the Idiot Light panel and turns all the Idiot lights on.

The BLACK/WHITE wire goes to a fuse. The ENGINE fuse if memory serves.

your going to have to take apart the main wireing harness because they are run threw it and if your going to go that far you might as well replace all the other ones in there aswell

I understand that....But could I not just run the new wires outside of the harness? Where do the wires terminate at is my main question still. If they run to a plug inside the car (which One?).

Well, since you have a non turbo series four, the white/black goes from the alternator..................to the plug called FEM-01 located on the emissions harness above and to the right of the passengers feet where it connects to the Front harness part of FEM-01 and travels on to.............the CPU plug where it is still Black/White.

The Black/White wire leaves the alternator plug and goes to ............................FEM01 and then enters the Front harness and goes to a splice in the Front harness that leads us to the ENGINE fuse.

The turbo routing is different, that's why a number of n/a to turbo swaps are fucked up, to be kind.

The above info can be found in the ONLINE AND FREE FOR A DOWNLOAD ON A URL POSTED ON THIS SITE.

On a 87 non turbo FSM, which is NOT free and NOT online, the plug is not called FEM-01. It's ref designator is X-15. Sort of a rose by any other name is a rose type thing.

FEM means FRONT TO EMISSIONS as in mating the Emissions harness with the Front harness. Harness locations available in the free online manual. All ground point locations are in the online manuals. All the plug locations are in the free online manual. Pictures are in the free online manual. The fuse locations are in the free online manual. Stuff is in the free online manual.
