alternator :(

ok so I burned my alternator... is there any cheap replacement? other than an alternator out of another 7? Is there a generic alternator I can purchase?
Because I don't have the money right now for a new one and I don't have to time for a used one cause I have to get my car out of the parking lot it's in rightnow..

Hmm... probably the best thing you could do at the moment is yank a battery out of another car, and drive it somewhere where it can sit for a little while, then change out the alt. if you leave the lights off it should go for a decent bit.

If you do decide to go for a used alternator, let me know. I've got one lying around (supposing you have an NA)

Sorry to hear it,
Manolis

PS are you sure it's fried? Did you check all the wiring / fuses, etc?

You can use alts from the b-series mazda pick-up. I did that, its a direct fit with connectors and spacers beeing the same dimensions, Mine is an 86´and so was the donor car.

I went through 2 alternators in two weeks.
My first mistake was buying a alternator from pepboys which lasted about 5 days
then I purchased a bosch alternator that lasted about a week.
I went and purchased a alternator that was modified and still have it with out any problems. I have 140 Amps max.
This was back in Aug 01
