For alternative exhaust (video)
Some of you have known my ideas for alternative exhaust. I'm still waiting for makenzie71's exhaust system, which he keeps saying he will send or refund.
Anyhow, heres the current setup:
Manni -->downpipe -->Flowmaster 40 --> Glasspack -->Glasspack --> Resonated tailpipe
Yes, its not the best for performance, but it gets the car pretty quiet considering. What do you guys thing for about $100 total invested (including the mufler, glasses, and pipe)

Oh, and the smoke was cause I had just replaced a vac hose from a spare which apparently had some sort of residual chemical... whoops...

I expect the car to get raspier to the point of replacement within a month or so. As for the tuneup, the car isn't doing bad. We swapped out a vac line and ended up using one that must have been used previosuly... not suprising i guess.
I just don't want to buy a complete new exhaust system when I technicaly already own one... just I can't get makenzie to ship it... I hate calling it a loss :/

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
well some glass packs are not bad...
I played with a couple when I was building those SS exhausts a couple years back. However it seemed like if the car was the least bit running rich (well richer than stock) or that there was a long drive in warm weather that the glass packs I tried (which were claimed to be okay for rotarys) would melt down (but then I was also discoloring the SS mufflers as well).

Flowmaster 40s are surprisingly decent sounding. I have a friend who replaced the busted muffler on his E36 M3 with a Flowmaster 40 series and an exhaust tip. It's hilarious, because everyone loves the sound (always asking, "Is that Dinan, ACS, or what?), but he'll never tell them it's a $50 muffler.

I know, that muffler has been abused for about a year now and still is holding up strong too. Theres not much to it, just some decent flow design I guess.
