I have a 90 rx7, and ever since I got the car, the gas gauge has been... Well, broken. If I have less than a half of a tank, it reads like I have a half tank of gas. If I have over, it reads full, or nearly full. Then it stays until it just drops back to that half way mark.... Wtf.

 

Buy a new sender unit that attaches to the probe in the fuel tank. Mazdatrix sells them. IN other words the *pot* is messed up and you need a new one. It is NOT the gauge but the unit in the fuel tank attached to the fuel pump.
