Are all '88 T's 10th A/E?
Did Mazda sell a Turbo RX7 in 1988 that was not a 10th A/E?
I'm mostly just curious, but I don't know that I'd want to pull an engine/drivetrain out of an A/E to put it in another car.
According to http://74.125.95.132/search?q=cache:...out_the_fc.htm
"Production was limited to 1500"
According to https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=801647
"1988 RX7 TURBO-II COUPE 1.3L 1311cc 13BT ROTARY PORT INJECTION T RWD 1748 Units"
So, either they did, or one/both of those numbers are wrong.
https://www.rx7club.com/new-member-rx-7-technical-256/specifications-what-did-2nd-generation-rx-7-come-w-options-standard-features-782409/ also mentions:
"Note: The '88 Turbo used a polished version of this wheel initially, then switched to a polished 7 spoke version (like the 10th Anniversary edition wheel)"
Maybe there's my answer.
We see a few '88s for sale, are any of those knock-off A/E's?
Anybody else care?

10 AE TII's were exclusively white - non-10AE 88's were available in the usual range of colours, and are around.
The apparent numbers discrepancy is probably resolved in the fact 1500 10AE's was likely a global total (and it's pretty common for "mass-produced" limited lines like this to slightly over-or undersell anyway). Moreover, the numbers in the thread you linked are USA only, registered passenger vehicles - as of 2007 when the post was made. So those would be the number of remaining cars of each year and TII or n/a series - 20 years later, when likely half or more of the production run are smashed, or broken down and unregistered, or sent to the scrap heap, or track-only cars.

According to the FAQ, there was no half year of S4/S5 production:
Build dates by serial number:
Model year-----Production Date----Serial Number

1987--------------6/86 - 7/87------500001-600000
1988-------------7/87 - 12/88-----600001-700000

Mazda built 1988 model year (S4s) until December 1988 and began producing 1989 model (S5s) also in December of 1988. I've always thought it was odd that Mazda was still building 1988 model year cars in December of 1988. Were people still going into Mazda dealerships in December '88 or even January of '89 and being satisfied with 1988 model year cars? Generally the new models are released in the fall, like around September or October. I wonder why the '89s didn't come out until early 1989.
