alignment questions

I have an 86 gxl replaced the shocks and struts and springs are on the way, gonna head to the alignment shop afterward and was wondering if I have to purchase the alignment bolt kit I have seen a few places. Also, My rear camber is horrible but my friend says that I don't even have any adjustment, is he correct?

I wouldn't mess with those bolt doohickies. Front has some adj. by turning the strut top, but if you need more I would get camber plates. The rears are not adjustable. You need a camber link.

Stock rear camber spec is -0*44' =/- 30'.

alignment

If you're installing mild lowering springs, on a street driven car, no need to worry about alignment kits. As mentioned, the front camber / caster is slightly adjustable by rotating the eccentric strut mount at the top of the strut.
Rear camber is not adjustable from the factory - old stock springs will tend to sag and you'll see the negative camber (leaning inward at the top) of the wheels increase. Depending how far your stock springs have sagged, you may even see that lessen ( and increased ride height! ) when you install your lowering springs.

if youre lowering your car less than 2" i wouldnt even mess with the camber other than try to get more negative in the front

BTW, how do i rotate the front struts for less camber? (or more negative camber) which direction do i go?

the struts turn full circle so no matter which way you turn them they can raise or lower your camber/caster.
