The past couple of days its been like -10, -14 celcius and my check engine light has been coming on, so i checked the codes and its the afm. Why would it be only malfunctioning in the colder weather and does anyone know were I can get a used one or better yet if i can clean mine up

 

I had a similar problem and I bought a used one with 90,000 miles on it for $50 in the NP for sale section.You can also find them on ebay im pretty sure.I dont know why it doesn't work unless its in warmer weather though.
