airconditioning not working...any suggestions?
OK guys my airconditioning is not working...I checked the compressor and it works when i connect wire straight to 12volts, also checked relay and its ok too...the light comes on when you push the air conditioning button.. although there is no ground going to the relay when button is pressed. I did a search on it and didnt come up with much... any one else that might have had the same problem?????????

There is an oil you add to the freon, either PAG or ESTHER depending on the system. If your system just depleted, there is plenty of oil left, you just need to charge with R12.
The rest of you guys need to SHADDUP!!

Plus its incredibly easy to use. Dont even have to purge the system. It uses the same oil. I just filled a depleted system with it, and enjoyed ice cold air, all summer long.

Just a hunch, but check the 10 A fuse in the fuse box by the driver's left foot. Last summer my AC went out, and since I didn't feel like bothering with it, I never checked anything. It took me a while to notice that my power mirrors didn't work, my cigarette lighter didn't work, and the clock went out. To me, they were just things adding up in the list of "doesn't work." Then I was perusing the service manual and became enlightened when I came to page T 16.
And comment like this are pretty immature:
Please, obviously he wants to fix the AC if he asked a question about what's wrong.

Obviously, the people telling him to yank it out haven't driven around in 90+ degree temps with 90%+ humidity and leather seats that have baked in the sun for 8 hours because someone forgot to put up the sun shields.
What about when it rains? Windows fog up, so what are you going to do? Cut on the heat?!

On a side note, yes I have had that problem.
Unless you KNOW where the leak is, your going to have to take it to someone and have them test the A/C system. Don't bother having them check if it has pressure or not, if the compressor is not engaging, my money goes on you having a leak somewhere in the system.
Have them find the leak (typically should cost ~45 USD). Then it's up to you how you want to fix it. Then weigh the costs of retrofitting your A/C system for R134A v. using a R12 substitute. Good luck finding someone to use the substitute, most shops are out to make the bucks (I can tell you MANY horror stories from my brother in the past year alone...).
Hope this gives ya something to stew in the brain.
