Air Ride suspension.

Sup everyone.
I was watching an old episode of one of the
car shows last weekend, and they were installing an
Air Ride suspension in a dodge ram. And i am wondering
if I can do this for my 88 Rex. they could adjust the height up to like 3-4 inches on the dodge. so i imagine about 2-3 on a rex. the kit came with everything. and uses a air tank to raise and lower the auto. Tell me if this sounds at all familer. thanks Matt22

Anything is possible with enouh money but putting something like that on an RX-7 is a complete waste of time/money unless your only interested in looks. There is probably a generic kit available but to much fabricating involved to be worth while.

Just get some coilovers so you don't have to mess with compressors and crap. I believe the show you speak of was Horsepower TV ( or Crank & Chrome? ) because I saw that same show.

I would just get hydraulics if you wanted fast lowering/heightening of the car.

I kinda think the handling would go to ****, I had air bags on my truck and it handled terrible after that.

My concern wouldn't be so much handling (since you probably don't care) but more that the car uses struts, and a strut is a locating member of the suspension. I have no idea if they've developed coil over type airbags, but I kinda doubt it, so I don't think you could do this.

Pity they're ****, cause my driveway has a hell of a hump. Both my parents cars hit it sometimes.
When I get a ReXy, its gonna have its poor little exhaust beat up

Why not just go out there and smooth it out with some asphalt/concrete? Make the rents happy!

Basically i do care about handeling hense why i got a rex. I just thought it looked cool after seeing it on tv. Its a shame that people have to put others down because they don't like what their saying. But that is just a part of life and we have to deal with it. I will be getting new struts and probably coilovers for my car, I just liked the idea of being able to change the ride height at a stop light, without getting hydraulics.

Hey no one is stopping you, we are just saying we wouldn't like air suspension on OUR 7's, that doesn't mean you can't put it on YOURS. Go ahead and get it, I am interested to see them.
