Air horn in an FC

Alright, I'm tired of those people that decide that the passing lane is designed for going 8 miles over the speed limit so I've decided that I want to install an air horn in my car. Especially on long road trips. Brights + tailgating + a little swerving work pretty well but some people just don't get the message, plus that's a lot of effort and lost speed. Imagine if you were cruising on the highway and you saw a small two seater fly up behind you and heard two short blasts from an air horn. Wouldn't you double time it into the lane next to you. I haven't really done a lot of reasearch on airhorns so I was wondering if anyone here could give me some advice on how to put on in my car. And yes, I know I'm an obnoxious ******* but I'm really tired of having to slow from 115 to 75 just to get some useless ***** out of my way. Thanks.

First of air horns are gay, secondly buy the 62 sound police/emergency response siren kit at your local auto parts shop. Its $50 but its got the built in PA system so you can tell the old timers to move yourself.

HAHA ROFL wow, the PA system is a damn good idea, me I'm a Super Street subscriber so I was just rocking the "Slower Traffic Keep Right" backwwards in my front window for a while. That worked well with some, most didn't even notice it, and some people decided to be jackasses about it and they slowed down to 45mph

Dude..... if someone is doing 8 miles over the speed limit and you are behind them blinking your lights and swerving, You are a friggin idiot asking for a ticket.

If you did that to me, you'd get a face full of steel bumper as I pulled the e-brake.

i met a guy who had a train horn installed in the bed of his truck. there's no way you could adapt that to an FC, though. you would go deaf with it in your hatch and would look like an idiot with it installed on the car. it was so freakin loud, though. i'm sure you've heard a train. yep, thats exactly what it sounded like.
you can rig car alarms to your horn. i knew someone who did this awhile ago (this mustve been about 8 years ago). a car alarm is loud and sort of sounds like a siren. you may get into legal issues with this, but if youre doing 115, i think you may have other issues.
i wish our highways were like those in europe. certain countries there seem to respect the rules of the road. they stay to the right. you can also get in big trouble for tailgating and driving in the left lane blocking faster drivers. of course, the autobahn, for example, is specially paved and kept in superb condition to safely handle cars doing 200+mph.

..and you'd have to pay for the damage you did to his car and your own car. Also probably some medical bills b/c thats just stupidity there. THE FAR LEFT LANE IS FOR PASSING, EVEN IF THE PEOPLE GOING FASTER ARE ******** AND (GOD FORBID) THEY WANT TO PASS YOU!! THATS WHAT ITS THERE FOR! Its also one of my pevs when slow *** ***** are in the fast lane doing the speed limit..mm taste the road rage.

Get an electric siren, and air horn requires a compressor, then you'd have to deal with location/electrical fitment issues. And I think the whole setup starts at ~$100. I wanted to put one on my motorcycle (I'm sure you could imagine why), then decided against it.

yeah fair enough about deciding not to put it on your bike. and i didnt know they required a compressor. i do like the idea about the siren/pa although i'm not sure if it would be loud enough to penetrate to the cockpit of the driver in front of me.

and yearsofdecay if you were in the fast lane and someone came flying up behind you, i'd hope you have enough common sense to let them pass. most of the time i obey traffic laws and if i'm the fast lane going fifteen over and someone comes behind me doing 30 over i'd be out of their way as soon as i saw them.

rx7punk, can you tell me a little more abou the system you're talking about. what else does it have other than the pa system. i also plan on installing a blue strobe in the top right corner of my windshield. and two behind the grille of my car. the best part about the kit i bought is that i have two strobes to put in my headlights. combined with the pa system i shouldnt have too much trouble. haha, imagine getting pulled over by a second gen rx7. too bad it's a federal offense to impersonate an officer of the law....*******....

You obviously don't remember traffic school there bud, or never had it..... YOU MAY NEVER EXCEED THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT. It doesn not say that you may exceed the posted speed limit in order to pass someone.

Also, You don't know the law very well there buddy.... HE would be paying for MY car and MY whiplash. You think I'm gonna jab on the e-brake????? hell no.. I'm going to put it on ever so gradually so that there is no indication to other witnesses that I did a "brake check" in front of this guy. in 99% of rear end collisions, the burden of proof is on the guy who collided with the person in front of him. In a rear end collision, the only way you can get the blame off your self is to PROVE to the police that you were not at fault, and if three other people saw you acting like an idiot just before the collision occured, its not going to go your way.

If I was half the vigilantee I've always dreamed of, I'd just shoot out your right left tire and see if your dumbass has a chance of riding it out. Theres a time and place, and if you're coming up on someone like that, its not the time or the place.

Grow the **** up and take some responsibility before you get shot by some hardened ******* who doesn't find you're childish **** worthy of the life.

I can't help but agree you sound like a big *******.

Using an air horn would just seal the deal.

The point is, I deal with speed demons everyday on my way to work, and every now and then I have to scrape their carcasses out from under the wheels of a tractor trailer that didn't see them flying up the shoulder to get past the "guy doing 8 MPH over the speed limit" in the passing lane on the other side of the truck.

Two months ago it was a hot head in a Black TII, just like mine, who's guts I had to crawl over to get to the creek in order to get the diesel fuel contained before it got into a public water supply. The truck driver wasn't injured, but the family of 3 that got splattered when the truck hopped the rail won't be watching "Finding Nemo" in the Caravan anymore on their way to grandmas house.

I speed, sure i do. Just not in traffic. I don't give a rats *** if you do 160 mph if your the only one on the road. But, cripes, people get killed every day, sadly, usually "other" people than the instigating road rager, because someone couldn't wait to get to work, or the bar, or home to take a ****...

You can get air horn kits for cars - I have one sitting in my driver's side bin waiting to be installed. They have a 12v compressor, relay, two or three horns, and some mounting hardware. It's going in my FC when I get some time, though not for the same reasons. I'm sick of people running BLATANTLY red lights in front of me, while I have the green. An air horn would hopefully get their attention better than the stock horn.

Also, to the person considering blue strobes in their car - I believe that's considered "Impersonating a police vehicle" - which is really illegal in most states.

Better hope you do that to him not me.

If you're gonig 115 on the interstate, the other people don't need to get out of your way, you need to slow the **** down.

I swear, it's like I'm on a forum with 90% middle school children.

Heh. I do my best to get out of the left lane for people closing on me from the rear.

Unfortunately, when I'm running at "late night want-to-get-home speed", getting out of the way of whatever's closing on me from behind doesn't tend to work... they follow me all the way over. :-/

I live in Utah where it is not even taught in Drivers Ed that their is even a passing lane. Everyone drives out here like it doesn't matter. I go about 80-85, and it pisses me off when there is someone in the passing lane. Usually they're even going UNDER the speed limit. And it doesn't matter what the punk doing 100 is doing, get the hell outta the way! At least avoid getting yourself into an accident.

aaron cake, you just became my new hero. those are definitely what i'm looking for. how much does the whole system weigh. where did you put the compressor. how much did it cost you.

and to everyone that's ragging on me for speeding, it's not like i'm one of those ******** that does it in medium to dense traffic. dont get me wrong, i'm a big ******* and drive really fast a lot of the times but it's only on a freeway and it's only either on really long road trips, or generally at night.

also to those of you that said if you saw me coming up on your *** really quickly you'd slow down to 45, i have no problems with that. when i'm driving the speed limit i'd do the exact same thing in that position. to the ******* that would slam on his e-brake, you're just a god damn idiot and i think that most of us know that you wouldnt really do that. not unless you have no regard for your saftey, your car's safety, and the safety of others (in that order). i'm glad that most people on the road have more common sense than you.

The system weighs about 5 LB, if that. Compressor is mounted in the front of the bumper skin. Cost was around $35.

Why be like that. I once had my girlfriend call me because her dad was beating her up.
-Her life's in danger and you wanna teach people lessons on your spare time.
Not everyone's late to work .I was pulled over by a State Trooper on 9-11 for doing 120
on South Capital Street and he let me go after I proved I had a legitamate reason for speeding.
You should always remember you don't know what's going on in the car behind you.
That person could be in a dire emergency.
I mean, I could be like my friend ****** and take your tail end out at 45 .The way he explains
it your already going slow enough were you would'nt flip your car and your spinning
around worried about your car where you would'nt be able to see his plates.

That's how road rage happens. Someone's already having the worst week, month, or year
possible and hear you come being the last straw

The one time I hesitated moving out of someone's way there was a 350Z with no lights on
going 60. I'm slowing about to stop ,he's not. He's honking. Luckly I see the sirens behind him and realize I'm about to be on World's Deadliest Crash, I move out of the way.
Yeah I slowed stopped on the side because the light red. This guy just in the Z just went through a red light a 60. He didi'nt hit anyone but I almost became apart of his very bad day.

Aaron cake - Thanks for the pic, I'll probably use that location for mine. A lot easier than working with the space in front of the radiator.

well.. i really dont undertand the desire for a loud horn.. when u are able to shop for a "airhorn" the ones that come in the can.. those are pretty loud.. besides my t2 88 has 2 horns and its pretty moderate..

If you are coming 115 in back of me "i would defenetly get out of your way"
you never know what mood the person driving 115 is at for u to look for uneeded trouble.
