ive read some posts on this subject already and consider myself better for it, but....

for an 86' NA with most of its mods "still to come", do to a paint job......a nice one, what can i do to tune the A/F ratio? i am buying a S-AFCII from Roy James, but ive heard it will be pretty much usless with out a WB O2 sensor??? what should i buy to go with it? is a WB the only way to go or can i get a bosch? are there "good WB O2's" for a resonable price.....and bt resonable i do mean cheap!

Just take it to a dyno and spend like $150 and get it tuned.

 

Yep no REAL wide band will be under 800ish.

 

my problem is gonna be finding a dyno to tune on......theres one at the local strip but i dunno if they tune.

 

You in the New England area. There are many places. If your strip has one, chances are they tune as long as they have a wideband. Just ask.

I don't cound DIY ones that use civic O2 sensor's which are around 400 dollars to make yourself. If you have one that is a true wide band like the ones used by pro shops post up the link bro. i am sure many people would like to see it.

Explain the difference in the "Pro shop" WB's. Other than perhaps + or - .25afr. (which would be different at another shop might I add)

western Maryland, if you see MD on the map i live at like the skinnyest part its like a few miles each way to PA or WV

and ill check at the strip, a few of us should be going up there not too long......hopefully before winter.

 

all those ones you build still need to be "calibrated". by doing so while comparing to a pre made one... so the pre mades are pretty useless.

a "real" wide band system is $2000-3000

like motec etc.

I hate to say this, but you appear not to have studied the actual operation of wideband systems and in particular how free air calibration operates.

I am also willing to bet that your local tuner will not have paid for a calibrated sensor in the first place and won't do a free air calibration test every day. They certainly won't have a gas calibration rig in the back of the shop.

If you do have some evidence for why the techedge, FJO or innovative products are not up to the job, please share.
