air escaping & blue smoke!
Help! i started my 88 TI convertible yesterday, and after about a minute, blue smoke pours out from the exhausts! and i mean it really does belch out! this decreases slightly under heavy throttle. also, there is air 'escaping' from the 'acv(?)' see attached pic! this is vert noticable as the engine increases throttle. i can plug it with my finger at idle, but under throttle it is impossible! it is very loud too!. the engine runs fine though? and the only problem is the massive amount of smoke! the engine was proffesionally rebuilt about 3500 miles ago (£3000!) please can anybody help as there are no specialists anywhere near me!
Thanking you all in advance!
Ian.

Blue smoke indicates burning oil, You most likely blew your turbo seals. How many miles are on the turbo? That would be my best guess. Simple test, rev your engine at about 3-4 grand and hold it for about 30 seconds. If blue smoke starts puking out, it most likely means you blew your turbo seals. its possible that you blew your oil seals inside the engine as well

i little smoke at startup is normal, blue means its oil. you said when you shift at about 6k it smokes?? like when you let off the gas it smokes or smokes starts pouring out while you on the gas at those revs? what color is the smoke? if its black it means you may have some fuel issues. Blue smoke and your oil seals may be going.
