Lag with the AC?

What do you mean?

It is just another belt driven accessory. When your AC clutch is engaged it does create a lot of parsitic drag. However, when the clutch is not engaged it is a nominal amount of drag.

Removing it is a positive because it gives you extra room in your engine bay to work with. Reduces some weight. However, ask your self do you need the AC. Do you ever have to dress up and drive your car? Personally, I do. And I do not want to bath in my own sweat in the pimpn' cloths

I live in SC during the summer, and I have never owned a car with ac. F**k it man. Who cares. You have two windows and a sunroof. Yeah so I get a little sweat on my pimp suit, but hey that just lets out feramones that the opposite sex will pick up and turn them on. So it's really a win win situation.

A little sweat? I'm sorry but armpit stains and a nice big wet back stain is not cool at all, not to mention that most women refer to that type of appearence as "filthy".

For those occasions when I have to wear a three piece suit (which come up surprisingly often), I will keep my AC. other hazards you may encounter without AC:

*Rain
*Bumbs asking for money
*Windows fogging up when you close them while its raining
* Nice exhaust smell in traffic

I have never owned a car without AC, and I'm not going to try it any time soon. I generally don't use mine unless I have to, but sometimes, you just have to.

if anything you probably get less lag with A/C

but the A/C will shut itself off after a certain RPM anyways I think.

The A/C puts extra load on the engine (i.e. less power to the wheels), but it doesn't affect turbo lag because it has nothing to do with the turbo's operation.

Quite a few seem to, but do not listen to anyone's advice here about whether to remove it! It's your car and only you use it, so only you can decide whether you want it or not. If you barely use it then it may be worth removing it (don't forget you're devaluing your car), but if you use it often then you'll probably miss it. The only performance benefit is from the weight loss, but you have to ask if you'd actually notice it.

The A/C is cut for 7 seconds at over half-throttle, but that's only on S5's, not S4's.

Well see that's where different situations occur. I do not have to wear three peice suits. But I would think if I was money enough to have to wear them that I might have the money for a daily driver. Just the way I look at things. And again different people I don't sweat that much. Bums that's why you carry a shotgun . Rain hey I still got vents and they're colder than my past truck without ac. Windows fogging up just use a little rain-x. Exhaust, hey it's a perfume . Plus for me I usually don't drive it in the rain so I don't have those problems. Like you guys have said it's totally dependent on YOUR situation. Whether or not you actually use it that much or if you even need it. To the operators discretion.

See how cool your girl thinks your car is when her mascara is running down her face, once you pull your AC

Actually, my car seems to get into boost quicker since there is more drag on the belts in the first place.

Like I said totally up to each person. I personally have never had a problem without it. I've never driven a car on a regular basis with ac. So maybe I'm just used to it and don't care. I care more about power. And removing the ac, while it does remove some parasitic drag, it also saves weight, quicker times. That's what I care about. Consequently I've never driven a car regularly with Power Steering, so it's removed on my car as well. Again my personal decision. That's just how I feel about extra weight and crap on my car.
