Air Conditioner Coil Baffle Plate

I am having trouble finding this part #. It is on the air conditioning coils? I think that's what that is called. It sits with the radiator and oil cooler. This piece is so rusty and thin, if I clean it and do electrolysis, I am not sure there will be enough left to save. I suppose that a fab shop could make one too.

This is interesting, my car did not come with one of those. When you get an opportunity can you take a picture of where it's supposed to go?

When I search "rx7 fc air conditioner baffle" I don't find any pictures of that part (although ironically for some reason it finds an old photo of mine where my brother is sitting behind the wheel of my Rx7).

Are there 2 different baffle plates? I have two different condensers in the parts pile. I'll have to compare the plates

It lives on the bottom bumper side of the condenser. Note the bolts.

Here is the engine side or the opposite side. I moved the bolts to the other side. One is broken.

If I had to guess what it does..... sitting just below what I call a baffle is the oil cooler. While sitting in traffic... heat from the oil cooler rises, making the condenser warmer, making the air conditioning less effective. It could be as little as a few degrees cooler inside the cabin too. Plus, seeing as this is on the back side of the condenser, wouldn't this help capture air and help cooling while driving?? Perhaps I am totally wrong about both.... I would like to put this back on until the AC breaks completely or I run out of extra parts to fix it. Thanks for the help.

it protected the condenser from road debris thats why it gets so beat up. I was just out there tonight and didnt look dangit.
I believe they were 2 different parts since there were 2 different AC setups, Denso and Sanden. dealer vs factory installed.
I have a bit of both for my re-install job and i noticed the fitting locations were different.

My '87 has a condenser that was made in USA and I don't believe it has ever been replaced. Must've been installed at the dealer.

In the "Related Topics " section, the part is just called a metal plate. They seem to think it's for heat.

I found my spare condenser in the part pile... I have another super rusty piece of metal. Unfortunately, I either broke a fitting on the condenser taking it off or at some point in the pile. I had been storing a broken part with a super rusty metal piece for many years.

Both of the metal pieces are identical. You can see the very rusty corner of the metal shield/baffle in the picture. If anyone has one with paint still attached, I will be interested. Thanks!

The way the plate sits just behind the 400 degree oil cooler I think it is more for blocking the heat from the cooler going through the condenser! Rather than a road debris shield. Mine needed a piece welded onto it to attach it on when I replaced the condenser! If I had one like the OP I would spray rust-reformer on it, then hi-temp primer and hi-temp silver paint. Just give it a light wire brushing to remove the loose rust scale first.

Does anyone have one? I would be interested in replacing mine.
