I want to replace my old radiator and i was wondering what you quys might be using as a stock replacement. I was thinking of going with koyo rad. but not sure how close it comes to an oem fitment . I am trying to avoid any custom work just for the sake of a quick installation , no headaches, the lower heater hose spout and to have the oem sensor bung.

I bought a koyo of ebay and it has all the fittings. I however must have had a replacement before because I don't have any brackets. Mine is a s5 vert. Thanks

I just installed a Koyo radiator the other day. It uses the stock radiator brackets. It also cools very nicely.

Koyo is a direcft bolt-on and worls fine. That's what I have. But be careful, not all koyos are really koyos on ebay. Just like TIEN springs, you could get the chinese ones...which are an immitation.

Tell the sellers that you know about the fake ones and he better not send you one. He'll bacfk out of the transaction and tell you its on backorder if its a fake.

Well, I have an NA and will be doing a turbo swap, so I just went to radiatorbarn.com and got a radiator for cheap. It's pretty much just a stock replacement, but at least the end tanks aren't plastic.

My bad, Spooledupracing sells the the same brand radiator that I got. I would just buy it from him because 1) I've bought parts from him before, 2) he's trustworthy, 3) he shipped out my parts fast, 4) he's a fellow forum member and rx7 owner.

Unless of course you want bling factor, then get a koyo or fluidyne. They all swap in the same, it's just the CSF radiators work fine for stock applications.

+1, unfortunately i didn't know about this going in. I ended up with a "koyorad" instead of a "koyo". That said it was still a quality job and bolted right up. And for $250, its probably still a decent piece.

by the way i drive an 87 NA gxl . thanks for your advices. I think for the the most part i wanted to make sure that the koyo or which ever have the lower hose fitting for the heater core. i do like the polished look most. i just don't want to sacrafice OEM enginering for a pretty engine bay.

I know for a fact the CFM radiators have a lower hose fitting. It also has the automatic tranny cooler hose fitting on it too, in case you have an auto. It's all black too.

+1 I've read alot of conflicting opinions on that. My "koyorad" is a very nice piece (welds are great, fit perfectly) so I wasn't too concerned, just sharing my experience. I also wondered why a knockoff brand would bother to emboss the logo on the top tank and paint it on the front. Both of those things cost money, esp the embossing. If I was making a knockoff I wouldnt bother with that stuff.

CFS is nice, but the lower hose outlet will rub against a large aftermarket sway bar. It's also missing a bleeder valve.

All and all a nice rad for stock a replacement. I recently installed one and am happy with it.

if you run a koyo rad can you still use the stock fan and shroud or just fun an E fan?
