Advise/input on performance mods
Hey all, just a couple quick questions for ya.
Lowdown: 88 TII....blew an apex seal and ruined a housing so gonna get rebuild.
While i'm at it i'm replacing the stock turbo and intercooler with something a lil larger. Car isn't driven daily or counted on for transport but I have too much invested in the car to let it sit around so it's gotta run.
So i've been looking at trying to buy a turbo and intercooler BOV ect slightly used in good shape from auctions. Is there anything specific I need to look for or watch out for when buying these things? I have no idea what size ect means i see some with example "EXHAUST HOUSING SIZE IS A.R.84 THE COMPRESSOR SIDE IS A.R.70" this is a To4E for around 500 bucks. That a good price? or a T3/T4 compressor side has a .50 A/R Turbine and the exhaust turbine is a .63 A/R for about 500? I have no idea what to expect to pay. Anyway i'm wanting to start moving on this but cannot afford to go out and spend 12k on new parts. Any help would be appreciated.
Also anyone who sells or knows of someone who sells good used or rebuilt turbo systems please post here so i can contact you. If you know of someone inparticular I should avoid please let me know them as well.

Turbine A/R is about right - you'll still need an aftermarket turbo exhaust manifold (HKS is cheapest at around $300).  You'll still need to plumb in custom oil lines (and coolant if necessary).  AND adapt the downpipe and the intake.  It's a very big step, and this is the reason why there isn't too many of them running around.  If you're trying to get cheap, it's going to bite you in the *** - sorry to say.

The compressor A/R is meaningless - we need the compressor wheel trim.  Easy to do by popping off the compressor housing and measuring the wheel.  Seller has no clue - I'd stay away.  Stay away from T4/T3 hybrids - these are really too small for a 13BT.

Thanks for the advise Ted. hehe by cheap i'm talking under 3500.00 the major players are all talking 7 grand with all new stuff at retail prices and that is just way to much.
