Advice needed

I have a 91 with 123,000 miles with no compression on the rear rotor. After pulling the motor, You can see one apex seal is damaged through the spark plug hole and with no compression at least one more is gone. I have helped take a rotary apart many years ago so basicly I have no experiance with these, piston engines are no problem.
Question 1 ) Is there a chance this engine will return a core charge if I purchase a rebuilt or is it likly to be a waste of money shipping it back?
2 ) Any recommendations on who to purchase one from?
3 )Any recommendations on machine shops if I decide to go into it to rebuild, in or near Atlanta, Ga.

Curiosity is telling me to go at it, but boy does that get me in trouble at times.

Thanks in advance
Rick

Kevin Landers will probably chime in. He does reasonably priced rebuilds. Rotaryressurection.com or something like that.

Im not a pro rotary engine builder but i have went through the same situation.

I'm pretty sure all of the rotary rebuilders take your core and rebuild it for the basic rebuild that is usually $1500+. Maybe a little less if they replaced less parts.

If your apex seal is damaged I wouild think your housing for that rotor is no good, and I'm not sure how good the rotor still is.

You might need a rotary knowledgable machinst for lapping, 3mm apex seals, maybe even balancing.

I blew my s4 t2 engine a while ago. I bought a used s5 t2 longblock with good compression. It was supposedley rebuilt not long ago. I had to trust the guy really, so far no problems.

another option was getting a jdm engine, but Ive heard bad stories about those. Most people get a jdm engine with good compression, and rebuild the whole hting with new seals as long as the housings and everything was within spec

A full rebuild is an option, but really pricey. The seal kit, another rotor, and housing was already roughly $2200.

There should be no problem using it as a core. A broken apex seal on the rear rotor is pretty standard damage.
