Advantage of using Leading Plugs in Trailing holes?

I've searched and read that some people are using NGK BUR9EQ plugs in both the trailing and leading holes. Whats the advantage of this?

From what I know, its a hotter spark. But I think that using in in the wrong hole causes premature failure (wow..is it just me, or is my mind in the gutter?)
