Adjustable steering column problems.

I finally got a chance to install an adjustable steering column I got a couple of months ago. The only problem is that the shaft the steering wheel mounts to is 60mm shorter than the one on my old column. I ended up braking the steering position sensor while torquing down the wheel.

My question is, did these use a different position sensor, or do I need a different steering wheel?

Steering column problems, any ideas?

So here's what I'm thinking I'll have to do. I'm going to cut down a cheap eBay adapter hub and modify it to fit. Unfortunately, all I have is a dremel tool, no mill or lathe. Has any one else had this problem?
