"Add Coolant" light and buzzer keep coming on!
This annoying little lights keeps coming on on my 7 everytime we are going. I replaced the Thermostat but Im still getting this warning light. The car is not leaking any coolant and it doesn't overheat.
Any of you guys gotten this problem, and how did you fix it?

add coolant or u mite hav to bleed the system u probably hav air in or it something. Happen to my friends car. Add coolant is not the thermostat sensor is different sensor on the radiator and the water pump. So check coolant level, might have to bleed it to get the air out. Also check radiator cap to see if its still good.
Trending Topics
There is a sensor in the coolant neck a couple inches to the passenger side of the alternator, if that is broke it will intermittently trip the add coolant light and warning buzzer, mine has that problem right now (the sensor is still threaded into the housing and not leaking but the casing of the sensor is broke and hanging off in la la land.)
yup i'm that friend that Brody8877 was taking about. my coolant lights and buzzer dont go off no more after i bleed it. (i have to get a new radiator because i messed up the drain plug and after that it was smooth, sometimes it goes off so then i just add more coolant like 2day) yah.

well....you could add coolant while the waterpump neck is off as well...i did this one tho, while trying to start the car, just keep both caps off...but, dont start the car. i just wanted the coolant to try to circulate as much as possible. aside from that, that will also tell you if the coolant seals are gone. if coolant starts to shoot out (mine just had a slight burp), then your coolant seals need replacing.

Simple Answer:
Take off Radiator cap at water pump
Start engine
WAIT for about 10 min
Turn off Engine
Top off Fluid.
This has been covered many times and is in the FAQ.
check the wire to the sensor, right around where the air filter box is where most times the wire gets crushed and starts grounding to the chassis resulting in the "add coolant" light to go on
Same thing happened to me. It turned out that the wire going to the coolant level sensor in the radiator was snapped off at the sensor. If you look at the radiator cap it is directly to the left on the radiator. I need to replace mine but don't know where to get it.
What year is the car and is it N/A or turbo?
The most likely culprit is air in the water system but there are other things like those that have been described here. If you have a 88 N/A like mine....the low coolant sensor is just to the left of the filler cap on the radiator. To bleed the system, there is a air bleed screw on the Left side at the top of your radiator. Loosen the screw and fill from the cap on filler neck above the air pump. Running the car while you do this may be helpful, I'm undecided on that so far...when fluid starts coming around the screw, you're bled; tighten the screw and fill it the rest of the way and tada! no more annoying buzzer....unless you have a leak, a broken wire, or a faulty sensor. If you find yourself with half a dozen leaks like I did, you can get pretty much any hose or seal you need and a new sensor from www.rx7world.com
If you really can't get it to stop buzzing there IS a way to bypass this sensor but Most ppl here (including myself) wouldn't recommend it. If you decide to bypass it you had better check your fluid level VERY frequently and watch your temp gauge closely. These engines do not like to overheat (guess why the sensor is there?) and we would hate to see you on here asking how much a rebuild is.

Boost...I had the same issue, If there is not enough wire left to splice it go here:

I must say... this thread has been helpful to me. But!! I have not attempted any of these steps..
My "Add Coolant" light is on while im idle and completely at a stop. (or red light)... once i begin to drive the "Add Coolant" light goes away. Although i am pretty sure i have a leak somewhere. The other day i could of sworn i saw coolant all over the bottom of my car...
Any who, i will perform these steps that i have finished reading and only hope for the best... Again a well informed "Add Coolant" light topic and the possible culprits. Thanks!

sound like you need to bleed it. That happen to my friends car, so just follow the step
My car says add coolant then the light goes off. I have coolant in the resovoir but its not sucking it up, and my car doesnt overheat. I checked the coolant sensor on top of the radiator, disconnected it light turns on then buzzer after a while. So whats making my "add coolant light " come on from time to time?
I have a 87 gxl with the overflow nipple on the radiator cap assembly on top of the thermostat housing. I remove this cap, and start the car and fill her up thru there? And this will bleed my system by turning that air bleed next to the radiator and fill it up thru the thermostat neck.
