Arrow Absolute cheapest way to rebuild a motor?

Ok guys, I have an s4 motor with a blown rotor. I have an s5 with three blown coolant jackets on the irons. I have tore down the s5 motor and will be tearing down the s4. Just to screw around I want to know if I can put both good parts of the motors together and get them running with the minimal of parts. Even if it fails in another 10k miles so what. What is the absolute least that I will have to replace? I want to use everything I possibly can even the apex seals.

Lets say you can pull what you need from the two engines for free since you already own them. Your bare minimum will be in the area of $220 for a soft seal kit and fluids. This includes coolant o-rings, dowel pin o-rings, tension bolt seals, rear gear o-ring, carb cleaner, wire brushes, pb blaster, assembly lubes, 6 qts fluid, filter, and coolant.

Get the soft seal kit from Mazdatrix.com. $173 with 3 day shipping. or $175 + tax from your local Mazda dealer. Fluids and cleaners courtesy of your local auto parts store.

Sounds like you need to resurrect your rotary, id find a useable core, doesn't sound like you have much to work with there. A JDM TII swap would be pretty damn cheap if you buy it from the right place

To the OP, do as joey said; use the s5 rotating assembly, and whatever housings are in the best shape. Make sure to use the rotor housings from the same series, but you can mix and match the irons. Get coolant seals, the necessary o-rings, and gaskets. I would also HIGHLY recommend using new apex seals. Its only about another 220 or so for a set of atkins seals, and its well worth the money. Everything else can be reused.

ok guys bringing back an old thread since I am now ready to do this.

When removing the engine my dumbass cut the harness out of frustration. I will be using s5 housings with s4 irons and everything else s5. I lost a few of my apex seals, can I reuse the s4 ones onto the s5 rotors? Seems that I can use them on the s5 rotors. I am starting to wonder if should really get new ones. I mean if they all check out to spec then what is the use in getting brand new ones?

if a soft seal kit is 175 and an apex seal kit is 200 then why is a rebuild kit 900?

ok guys, i have decided to get the rotary aviation apex seals kit and the entire gasket kit from mazdatrix for the 240. It has all the seals and o-rings that I need along with all of the gaskets. Total this will cost me about $475. Ill be reusing the side seals and springs.
