? about my exhaust (monza)

ok i have an 89 vert and i just bought it in december (its motor is getting rebuilt right now) it came with monza exhaust mufflers....thats it stock cats and y-pipe and everything else. so all they are doin is making a cool sound out the back no added power. anyways my question is should i cut those off and get a new full exhaust or just buy a test pipe/presilencer and get rid of my cats?

money is kinda tight but if i kept saving for the full exhaust i could do it.

what do you guys think. let me know. and thanks in advance.

id get an apexi n1 single or dual exhaust, u want the biggest size piping possible.. the racing beat exhaust is good for about 150whp (180 at the flywhee) , after that its more ofa restriction. having a bigger exhaust will reduce ur torque but will give u higher hp from more flow, what you really want to get before u get the exhaust is a header

If you have an NA, get a full system with 2.5" piping.

i like the apexi system but does apexi have anything other then cat back? if not what would you go with from header to muffler that would be good for my car....its sucks but i have an auto right now, but next winter it will be a manual.

also i checked borla and all they have is cat back for my car.....i already have cat back whether it be good or bad if i was to try and save money i would just get header and some type of cat eliminator and maybe a y-pipe....thanks for your input rx7 guy.

ps. my exhaust isnt bad yet and i kinda like the dual tips on each muffler.

Do a bonez race pipe (www.rx7.com) and whatever catback u like. I went with the Apexi n1 single because of cost and reliability. I've had it on my car for 4yrs, daily driven and still no rust or anything.

Honestly, you would probably make more power with the stock exhaust than with the Pacesetter (Monza) catback.

The Pacesetter Y-pipe is very restrictive because of the shitty welds on the inside. Where the pipes begins to spilt, you actually have a 1-1.5" hole for the exhaust to flow through.

yeah with a name like monza :/ what can ya say.....

The thing I didn't like about the N1's is that the y-pipe isn't coated with anything. Its just raw and on my friends TII it was visibly rusty. Only the cans were SS. Atleast on my duals they have some form of ceramic coating throughout. Only one of my pieces has rust but I think thats because i've hit the coating with wrenches a lot.

You can always paint exhaust pieces with high temp paint if you are worried about rust.

The fact that it was included in my bill and that I didn't have to waste time on it was beneficial for me.

It helps if you are trying to build a decently clean car.

If you want you can buy mufflers and have a custom exhaust made also.

If you have 400 bucks around there are a few dual catbacks available:
Borla (http://www.summitracing.com)
RP (http://www.rx7.com)
Walker Dynomax (http://www.mazdatrix.com)

If you don't mind going single, a corksport catback is available for under 300. (Http://www.corksport.com)

Got any pics without the coating?

The Apexi N1 that came on my car isn't rusted, it seems to have something protecting it. Could be high temp paint and it could be factory coating.
