About how much to replace a cat converter?

About how much to replace a cat converter?

Just wondering how much it will cost to replace my leaky cat converter? or should i just gut it out?

If you have emissions testing, you need the cat. A stock replacement from Mazda will be alot.. i mean take what you think it will be, and quadruple it. Go for a high-flow unit, such as Bonez from www.rx7.com . It will run you about $300. And if you are going to gut it, keep in mind that technically its a federal offence, so I wouldnt be blabbing it over the internet

the mazda one is like $850 to $1100 bucks for a new one...... just look on Mazdatrix'z site..... so you'd be friggin nuts to put one one, and YES a high flow is better, ,as long as its emissions legal where you are.

As for gutting it... don't bother, buy a race pipe if you must go that route, gutted cats sound like crap!!

also.... what year and type of car do you have, if you have an 88 or below N/A, you neef backpressure for the sixports, so a racec pipe might not be a good thing
