About to bake rotor in oven. No serriously

Okay I'm preheating the oven right now to 275 degrees because I can't get two jammed side seals out. They're driving me crazy!

So now I'm going to bake my rotor to see if they come loose this way. I think that the carbon deposits have gummed up the seal crevess and dried that way siezing them in there. Hopfully a hot temperature change will make these deposits sludge like.....I soaked them in chemdip carb cleaner now for two days with no change.

Errr.....Here goes.

hmm interesting, actualy using the oven sounds likea better idea to me than the ussual torch becuase this way you are heating the rotor evenly and lessining the chance of heat related warpage.

i suggesting heating uba few complete rotating assemblies than putting them in a hole in the ground with a whole pig. cover and wait 8 hours. mmmmmm rotor luow(sp?).

Yeah, but this one sat like this for a year. Plus it had coolent seal failure so maybe the rotor sat at the bottem of the housing in a little pool of coolent making it rust in there too or something. I don't know.

if its rust you could try some CLR, or at least here i n florida they sell some stuff called white-ox that stuff will eat the rust off anything.

I could see that too. But I think this motor was rebuilt by another amature like myself. Everything is new. I got real lucky. No scored housings. The side seals are actually just as thick as the new ones I got. So are the apex seals.

Its as if they put it together without any sealent and it blew in 100 miles or something. The rotors are within tolerance and they look brand new too.

Oh well, we'll see how this goes......

I had a problem with side seals sticking on one of my engines. In the end I was able to pull the seal out, but I bent the **** out of it. Good Luck!

Aw dam, sorry my idea did not work. Did you try the ice trick though??

Hot rotor, thick gloves, cold ice. With a nice hot rotor, take the ice and smash it on the side seals, it might contract just enough to break free! ?

Alright.

Oh-my-*******-god.

That took only what? About 7 hours or so. They're out. That was about as easy as birthing a rhino through my nose.

I thought about this, but what I could see happening is the crevess cooling down faster than the side seal, thus gripping it tighter. But I thought the oven Idea would be a good start though.
