Abnormally low idle?

Just curious about this minor problem I've been experiencing every so often..

Car starts fine.. everything is great...
After the car is warmed up, the idle usually drops down to around 800rpm.. but every so often it dips down to almost 300.. and it feels like it wants to stall, but never does.. I just tap the gas, and usually it clears up..

My fuel pump is old.. could that be it?
Any thoughts would be appreciated..

BAC VALVE might be bad........ Peak into the Archive on Idle issues. There is a great write up that will answer all your questions.

Sounds like the same problem I have, every 5-9 start ups it does that. I figured it was the BAC vavle as well. The Valves differ per S4 and S5's correct?

It's possible (and likely), that the mechanical idle is set too low, and the BAC is being overworked to attempt to hold the idle. I like to always set a good 700rpm or so idle with the BAC disconnected, then connect it and allow it to do whatever.

Does the Bac also control the 3k rpm at coldstart? Wondering...
