hey, is it possible to swap in an automatically adjusting suspension from a GXL into a T2 (i have an 87 t2) or is it even worth it?

At this stage in the game, most of the systems do not work, if even at all. And no, it's not worth it. The "sport" setting would probably be about equal to your T2's suspension "hardness"...and the soft one would be less. So, you'd be better off going with some nice springs + shocks.
