Aaarrrgggg!!!! charging problem! Help!!!
sup guys and gals!
well im having a rather frustrating problem with the charging system.
So when this started i thought maybe the alt was no good since it was old and me and pops hooked a voltage meter to it. This showed that there was no charge to the battery. a friend of mine hooked me up with another one his, i had it checked and it did work fine. so replaced it. now this alt only charges properly when its cold. now when its warmed up drops to 12 and stays there moves just a lil bit (barely noticable). if i drive it for at least an hour it gets worse drops below 12. the battery is new (had it tested anyways and it was good).
side note: in between this swap i had to replace starter. it wasnt turning over at all. now it does w/ pauses every now and then.
really could use some insight on this guys
thanx in advance!

If you're relying on the alternator gauge to measure the voltage created by the charging system the guage itself might not be providing you with an accurate reading. To verify the accuracy of the guage you can use a voltmeter set to volts DC to measure the voltage output as follows. Place the red lead (+) of the voltmeter to the terminal on the side of the alternator where the black wire connecting to the alternator is covered with a rubber boot that needs to be pulled back a bit. Next, place the black lead (-) of the voltmeter to the negative terminal of the battery. Do this with the engine running and all accessories in the off position. You're looking for a dc voltage reading of 14 to 14.5 volts.
so this is a test from the alt correct? the battery is showing no charge at all. i will do a alt check in the morning.
wanna run some possible conclusions?
1. alt is charging but not showing at battery
2. both show no charging
as i said b4 both alt and battery were checked and concluded "working order" by local autoparts store.
thanx for the reply Satch

If the alternators are good, then the problem must be the wiring to/from the alternator in that the wiring simply won't allow the alternator to pump full voltage to the battery because of corrosion. That, or the regulators in one/both of the alternators are bad. But if the regulators are bad they wouldn't have passed the Autozone like bench test.
Corrosion may be keeping the full voltage from the alternator to the battery

wait everyone stop. he said he swapped the starter out. i wonder if he remembered the negative cable tht goes to the starter. if thats not hooked up its not gunna charge. check that guy out
thanx guys for the responses! i did check the negative one more time thats intact. this problem was happening before the starter swap. and i remember scrapping any gunk or grease off the starter wires. the pos (+) and neg (-) will be cleaned today, since they"re kinda open to the elements. meaning awhile back i replaced the terminals and now they get a lil corroded every now and then.
i will check back after i do this.
again thanx guys!!!
any CenCal caravans to sevenstock this year?????
