91 rear lights in a 86
i used the search function and didnt find this thread so i decided to post it. while i was getting my blockoff plates installed i tried to install my new taillights and they didn't fit correctly, b/c i didn't have all three pices. The lisence plate part had to be trimmed just ever so slightly to have the 91 lights fit. If i had a pic i would show u what i had to do but sry i don't. i just thought i would throw this out there just in case some1 else tried to do the same.

First off, welcome to the forums. you will find alot of great information on this site. check the archives and the faq. loads of good info.
yup, a lot of people swap their Series 4 (86-88) for Series 5 (89-92) tail lights. the usual problems include trimming/bending the sheet metal of the body closest to the lisence plate, and the license plate from does need to be trimmed as you stated in your post. one thing alot of us do is that we swap the license plate frame also, just to keep things easy.
thank you for your post, if you could post pictures or send them to me I'll size them right so they can be posted. in other words, let us see your work.
