'91 NA transmission disassembly question....
Hey everyone!
I'm new here, but not to cars in general. Have an '81 GSL and a '90 Miata. I'm in the process of disassembling a '91 NA transmission to use the gear cluster in another trans housing. My problem is that I cannot fully separate the rear housing from the intermediate plate. I have searched the site extensively, but can't find the answer I need for this type of trans.
I have the bellhousing off, and have tried just about everything I can think of to get the rear housing off, but with no success. I can get it to come off the intermediate plate by about 1/2", but that's as far as it goes. I figured it had to deal with the shift rods, but removing roll-pins, from the shift forks, etc. has done nothing.
There HAS to be a trick, but I don't know it. Short of buying a manual and waiting for it to come in the mail (I'd like to be back on the road this weekend) I was hoping I could get a quick heads up on what I haven't done.
Can anyone tell me what I'm missing? Or do I need to wail on it with a hammer...
Thanks,
Grant

A HUGE help, thanks.
Just getting started on this project, so I need to learn all the internet locations for specs and things. That site is a major help. I should have been more general in my searches and I may have found it.
Thanks again!
