Depending apon port design, exaust, and intake manifold, you can get a car to make good torque up top. My car for instance, with a very, very mild port made peak torque at 6,500. After that, it did start to taper off, but it was'nt like my 3rd gen's dyno plot. Looking at my dyno sheet, it looks like I was still making 110ish rwftlbs at 8600, where my rev limiter steps in. Keep in mind my car only makes a peak of 120ish. Maybe its just that its a pineapple motor?

if you want to hit 9000 reliably you're gonna need a lot more work done to your motor, just like everyone says. Better stationary gears, bearings, etc. That extra 400-500 rpm isn't going to win you very many races, the few that you can actually compete in before your motor dies.
Why does everyone want to rev so high?

I just spent the last 35 minutes looking for the chart. I still can't find it. Just should have uploaded it again. I'll post it later tonight. My graph is a bit off though. Ralph@Excessive uses some kind of pickup, with a little bit of this reflective tape on the main pulley. Only problem was that, because the fan is in the way, we had to use the ps pulley, so the RPMs read a little low up top. You can also search for Ryan cruser's t04s dyno sheet that he had Ralph tune. His RPMs where off up top also. CJ
