my driver side never worked since i got the car but im ok wit that cus its stopped on the closed position meaning it still providing its saftyness(lol)
but now my passanger one assed out on me yesterday and it stoped in the middle of the door.seeing that the seat belt assembly is 660 per side i rather put the passanger side like the driver side in the closed position. so i was wonder is there a easy way to do it like an adjustment cus i was just gonna cut the dam thing and pull the cable. any suggestions would help thank you ( and i did search cant find anything if u got a link thatll help me ill apreciate it too)

That doesn't matter...it's a lifetime recall.
Ask to speak to the Regional Service Rep.

That's not true! Mazda HAS to fix it or buy your car and total it. I got mine fixed 3 weeks ago... the Mazda dealership said the warranty was closed since it had been fixed before. You may need to call Mazda North America... but since it's a life time warranty it shouldn't have been closed.. and they have to fix it.

i got mine fix and they broke my pillars, but i felt like i was getting over on them so i replaced the pillars myself thanks ebay!,but its a life time warranty so i don't know, it cost 1350 est., i don't remember, they proably don't want to fix it! because they tried to blow me off the first time i called, i had to call again when they didn't call me, so i had to wait some till parts were ordered again

u should ask them what "lifetime" means to them

this seat belt thing seems to be really popular thing to talk about lately

if they still give u crap go higher up the chain the dealer doesnt want to do it because it costs them money u just have to be persistant

There are no "requirements" other than being one of the models/years covered under the recall.
They won't deal with belts that have been cut or worn but the function of the track itself is covered unconditionally.

I'd print out a copy of the letter referenced in RR's link (and send him some ecookies for his trouble) and be prepared to brandish it in the face of any naysayers at the dealership.
If that fails, a call to Mazda NA while in the service department's lobby would be entertainingly effective, I'll bet.

I would also bring a digital camera and conspicuously take pics of the A-pillar trim's condition, just in case it gets damaged (no doubt "accidentally").
Or remove it yourself prior to going.

I had to make a call to Mazda corporate North America to get mine done. Within an hour I got a call from the offending stealership, offering an apology and wanting to schedule a service appointment.

The first car I had them fix this on, they broke the a-pillars.

The second one, I decided to remove the plastic myself.

They will cover the motor/track/cable assembly, usually both sides at once, even if only one of them is bad. IF they both work normally then they will not help you.

Sometimes you have a car that one side doesnt work, or only works intermittently, and/or the light in the dash stays on. This is often one of the switches in the door latch that holds the door to the body of the car when shut. These switches are not covered under the warranty (even though they are an integral part of the system) and so if the dealer finds one of these is the culprit then you'll have to find a replacement. I have never had any issues finding door latches from s5 cars for 10 or 20 bucks.

and yes, TAKE THE A PILLAR TRIM OFF BEFOREHAND.

My car's seat belt had one spot where the light would turn on. It pissed me off because pretty much if I moved any the light would come on + beep at me. It happened because the rotating sensor in the middle console had worn out + wasn't making contact anymore. So I just unplugged the sensor all together. Now it only beeps once when I start the car. I think there's a way to wire it to a false positive too, but I'm too lazy to try that.

I wonder if Mazda would pay to convert a broken mouse belt into a manual one? I mean, the parts including the new trim you'll need is still cheaper than what it costs to repair the automatic belts... plus you get to use CG locks...

Both of mine are broken... when I get my car going again, I'll have to give that a try. Not only would it be cheaper for them to do it once, but they would never have to replace them again.

Converting to manual belts can be done (I did) but there is NO way Mazda would do it.
It ain't as easy as you'd think.
