Question '90 X-7 Vert hood : Steel or Aluminium ?!?

Had coupons for Mazda shop service check/tire rotation, etc.
While there, I asked them to adjust my hood latch as it won't pop up for latch access when pulling interior hood release.
They say "sure we can adjust". Well they didn't fix it. Wacked me for $80.00. I went POSTAL.
Their response: Your hood is too heavy. Your car is supposed to have the aluminium hood. It has a steel hood. It's too heavy for spring assy.
Mazda says I was "front end hit" & replacement is off a Coupe.

CarFax passed it excellent.

So... Did the stock '90 RX-7 Vert have a aluminium or steel hood ?!?

TIA for your help !

Should be aluminum. If you're not sure, use a magnet and see if it sticks.

well if the hood is wrong just change the spring in the assembly... I had to do that but I had a steel latch with an aluminum hood...I had to slam the hood real hard!

Check with magnet. Also, under the hood there should be a decal about the airbag deployment (converts only). If missing probably from another car.
