88 Vert... Wedding gift for fiance...

So... May is coming up awfully fast, and it's taking me forever to get my **** together to try and finish my soon-to-be wife's 88 Vert. I just bought an RX on ebay with a 30k factory rebuilt motor to drop into the car.... couple questions...

Can i transplant the CPU and wiring harness from an 86 into an 88 to relieve myself of the 88 fuel injector headache? I shouldn't ask if I can, more, is it relatively easy? Take out 88 CPU, plug in 86 CPU, plug new harness into firewall... that kinda easy..

Can anyone point me to a good write-up on how to put the bed liner stuff into the engine bay?

Attached is a photoshop of the color(s) the car is going to be. She's really into the avacado green. I was wondering...

A) How's it look? It will be glossier and the color a little deeper...

B) Where can I find tops of different colors or will I have to have one done by a specialty shop?

On painting... This is just going to be a nice solid color, with no flake. Is it worth the hassle to save $$$ and paint it myself if paint is say.. 100/gallon or even 100/half gallon?

ECU is essentially the same as far as the injector thing is concerned. Basically, you want to run low impedance, I gather...

All ECU's see high impedance. The 86-87.5 models ran low impedance with a resistor pack directly behind the passenger side headlight assembly.

So, if you want to use low impedance injectors, you're gonna need to wire in 10 ohm resistors at the fuel injector wires...or, at the ECU if you can find the pinouts in the FSM.

Oh, the color, not too hot...looks too military to me......I'd go for a cleaner color like black, bloody crimson, championship white...

Pshhh didn't GET her an RX-7... we've had it sitting around waiting for a decent running engine to go in....

As for the color... yea it's not quite right, but it's close.. it's suppose to be avacado, but i can't seem to get it to gloss over real nice.. maybe someone else here has the photoshop skills to pull it off...

Injector wise, were't the 88 injectors still low impedance? I thought they just had the guide for the plug in the center, instead of on the side... 88 injectors were different from 86-87 and 89-91 if i've read correctly..

I used to have a green GXL...

Doesn't look THAT bad. Better in person IMO.

Little pricey but from what I have heard, well worth it. Go here.

http://www.autostyles.com/mazdarx7.htm

Click where it says "See cloths used" they do in fact have a couple different greens.

Personally I'm not too big on the avocado color. But thats a photoshopped image after a nice paintjob it might look pretty damn sweet. Especially with a top to go with it. Good Luck man!

why not paint it black and have some avacado green accents... like stripes or some other design? or say... paint the car black or silver or some color... get the top done in avacado green, buy some rims for the car with a polished lip and paint the center spokes avacado green... theres alot of different options you can do with paint and body... well whatever you do.. please paint that ugly black moulding that runs along the lenght of the car the same color as the car! lol
