88 vert rescued and i need all the help i can get
Hello so I got a 88 na vert that has been fully to hell and back it seems. I know very little of the history of the car and there seems to be so much wrong with it. Ran okayish at first and I mean that generously. However the fuse kept popping for the illumination and then the interior Odom and running lights no longer work. Try replacing the fuse and it got so hot. It almost melted in. Taking that out and driving the car there seems to now also be a problem of the car stuttering around 3000+ and wouldn’t get over past 4500 with it bogging.
I have started to tear the car apart to try and address the issues. I will include so pictures and if anyone is willing to give advice and or knowledge that would be wonderful.
thank you!
Many here can help. Educate yourself a bit and ask questions. Nobody will hold your hand.
With these cars, I would start with grounding. Where you started isn't bad either. With the hot wires, you likely have a short or a splice with something that shouldn't be there.
Find the fuse or wire end where it was hot and check for continuity to ground. It should be pretty low or 0. If not, you know to keep looking for a short.
If it is low, maybe a splice or ground issue.
I am no electrical expert so, take my advise with a grain of salt if you wish but please be careful. If you can work with one hand, do so. Chances of getting hurt with the voltages in these car is likely pretty low but safety first, always.

looks like a flood victim, or at least had lots of water inside and sealed up for many months that caused extensive corrosion of the electronics. the room fuse is missing but you will likely need to start disconnecting items from the interior to figure out when the fuse stops popping.
