88 vert, intermitent start, pulls #1code HELP!

Ok, I have an 88 vert with an intermitent starting issue.
It consistantly pulls a #1 code, except for the random occasion that it does start.
I have swapped ECU's, leading and trailing coils, and main relays.
CAS is reading between 160-190ohms consistantly.
It will randomly start, and when it does, the car runs fantasticly.
I suspected that the CAS plug may be faulty, so I jumped the wires, and it didnt fix the problem.
I know the O2 sensor isnt hooked up as of yet. could that be the issue?

Secondary issue (possibly related) is that the idiot lights dont work at all. when you turn the key on, the only light that turns on is the charge light.

Is there a magic deal breaker ground Im missing?
Please help any way you can.

Pull the small plug off the alternator. It has two wires. One is BLACK/WHITE and the other WHITE/BLACK.

Get a spare piece of wire and put one end of it to a known gnd and the other end to the WHITE/BLACK wire. Key to ON. ALL the warning lights should come on. If not, repeatedly put the WHITE/BLACK wire to gnd and listen carefully as you do that. You should be able to HEAR the alt relay in the CPU click/pull in.

So? What happen when you did the above?

I trust the alt warning light is OFF when the engine is running. If not, then the alternator is kaput perhaps.

Oh, what's a code #1??????? I forget.

EDIT: Oh. A CAS code. I'd pull the plug off the ECU and ohm out the coils in the CAS and compare the reading to the one in the FSM. Engine Electrical section...I think. Something like 220 ohms???? for each set of wires. The CAS plug has to be on the CAS when you do that.

Like pull the large plug off the ECU and ohm out b/t N and P and then b/t T and Q. Each reading should be whatever the FSM says. 220 ohms is what I remember but it's been a while. Look at the FSM for the real figure.

If that works out, then go to each wire with the meter. One lead of the meter on a known gnd. The other lead on each wire one at a time. Meter on ohms. The reading should show no continuity. As in no wires are touching ground, which is good.

On a outside chance, I'd put the plug back on the ECU, then go to the CAS plug. It has a SHIELDED wire there not connected to anything. Put the meter on that wire and meter on ohms. It should show that that shielded wire is grounded. It's grounded at the other end....somewhere. I know not where exactly.
