MB 88 vert fuel tank

I suspect my tank needs cleaning out or replacing. I put a new sock on the fuel pump, and now it's hesitating again. What's best, a new tank or steam cleaning out the old one? Any thoughts?

If you plan on keeping the car I'd buy a new one. I just replaced my gas tank with a new one but its not cheap. It was full of rust! You can have it cleaned but I suspect the cost would be realitively 1/3 the cost of a new tank. There's also Ebay to look at. However, if theres pitting or exfoliatiation life of the tank will be temporary even if cleaned.

Just for reference purposes...is Mazdatrix the only place besides the Dealership to get a new gas tank? I've tried looking for other companies online but Mazdatrix was the only one I could find that specifically sold rx7 gas tanks? Also, I priced to get my gas tank cleaned out by a shop here in VA and they quoted me almost $500. Just to give you a rough estimate on how much that would cost.

I get my parts from Tasca (trademotion.com) and the tank was $445. I had to wait a few weeks to get it. Mazdatrix is usually much faster but more expensive.
