88 Turbo II Strange clunk and jerk feeling need help please??
So at the moment my car is having this problem, whenever i put it in gear and let out the clutch there this clunk and you can feel a jerk, im not sure if its coming from the trans or from the rear end of the car, because this also happens whenever i let off or press the gas while im driving
Any thoughts on what it could be?? im stumped

Do you feel it under hard acceleration? The most likely cause is the front differential mount. you can easily replace it. there is also a stiffer Mazda competition one available. You can install a snubber for a little extra stiffness.

I would agree, 90% of the time when you are having a clunk sound like this from a rear differential it is because of worn or broken mounts. Im not an expert with the rx-7 but it is the most likely cause in any RWD or AWD vehicle experiencing noise when from the rear diff.
