88 TII Dash into a 90 GTU

Hey all, picked up a complete dash and some other random interior pieces out of an 88 TII, all in very clean condition.

The dash in my 1990 GTU has a lot of wear. Broken plastic, dead clock, dying electronics/wiring, general wear and the results of basking in the Las Vegas heat for the last 10 years or so.

I'm planning to swap my dash with the one from the 88... While I do have the 88 TII cluster, etc, I'll probably keep my original N/A round-gauges cluster. Everything else will be replaced(well, I'll probably keep the S5 center console compartment, too).

Any major differences or hangups I should be on the lookout for between the S4 and S5 dashes, components(idiot lights, clock, a/c, etc) and wiring, or is installation just a matter of replacing the old with the new?

Additional note, I dont have the 88 dash in front of me for comparison, it should be here this week.

And additional question... The S4 radio surround is plastic, versus the rubbery surround of the S5, right? I've noticed S4 owners wanting the S5 surround in the archive posts I've read, so I assume they match up?

It'll be an almost direct replacement, except you might run into issues with the dash core support. However, I think those issues are moot, and you should be able to do a swap with nary a problem.
