NC 88 RX7 Blower Motor Issue

Ok, this is my first post in a long time, but my 88 is having an issue. About a year ago while my car was sitting it got water in the blower motor and it locked up. Once I found this out(after trying to run it) I replaced the blower motor and now the only way to turn the blower motor on is to unplug and plug it back up at the blower motor. I have tested, and I am getting power to it, but it will not kick on. My biggest issue is that while I was running through trying to trace wiring, I determined that my car has an S5 blower wiring where the rest of the car is an S4. I'm 99% sure that this is factory. My question is, has anyone else had this problem and would the blower capacitor possibly be the issue with it not working properly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Look down inside the blower motor connector on the harness side from the front and back. Its fairly common for blower motor connectors to burn and make bad contact.

I have not run into it on an FC but it's a pretty common issue on all vehicles.

I have checked that, everything looks good. Another part to this issue is that if I touch the fan switch while the blower is running, it cuts the blower motor off and cannot be restarted until you unplug and plug the blower back in.
