88 Convertible issues
So I bought an 1988 RX-7 Convertible, only had 67k miles, and was actually very nice except for a few things. The wipers only worked on low, and it seems like it needs a good tire balance.
BUT...
I fixed the wipers, sort of. I did the 'replace the relays' from various threads on the forums, and got them working, except for the high speed. They turn on, but move at the same speed as the low wipers. Switching from Low to High shows no change in speed. The Intermittent and mist both work properly as well. Any thoughts?
Also, when I'm driving and I make a turn, I can hear a cranking noise. I checked the power steering fluid and it is full, so it's not that it doesn't have the fluid. Perhaps it just needs a good greasing? Any other ideas?
Other than that, the car works great and I'm very happy on the buy ($5200 wasn't too bad for it).

You must have done something wrong when replacing the relays. www.mazdamark.com sells rebuilt headlight and wiper switches. As for the cranking, I wish I knew what was too but I think it may have something to do with the cold weather or possibly worn parts. Its always worked fine for me despite the sound.

Nah, I followed the instructions from quite a few sites. The fact that the wipers work at all on high leads me to believe that it doesn't have any thing to do at all with the switch and that it is more to do with something else in the system. Most people that had problems fixed it with changing the relay's. I believe that was indeed part of the issue, but the fact that the wipers work on high, and intermittent and mist now as well really points to the problem being something other than the relays. Possibly one of the FET's or something else on the wiper board is dead, or maybe it has to do with the wiper motors.
As far as the steering, you might be right. Considering I live in PA, that very possibly could be the problem. I'll have to drive it today since it's considerably warmer than it has been the past few days.
