87 turbo II wont start
i have an 87 turbo II and it will not start. i rebuilt engine, cause the rear apex seals where no good. known info: starter circuit is good. the engine cranks. also leading and trailing coils pass the ohms test out of the "haynes" manual, but i an not getting spark in the trailing coil while cranking. can some one help me. it also seems that L1 is sparking faster the L2. and can anyone let me know where i can find an injector seal kit. my primary 1 injector is leaking a little. HELP PLEASE!

Well, I had this problem when I rebuilt my motor and put it in. cranked the same, sounded like it was thinking about starting, and after about 10-15 minutes I realized I never retimed the crank angle sensor. So just saying make sure the motors timed.

thank you for the info. i have checked the timeing and it seems to be ok. but can you let me know why the trailing coil is not fireing. also where can i get a detailed diagram of the vacuum system. the "haynes" manual is kinda hard to follow.

The Factory Service Manual has all the diagrams you need. It is available online at...
http://www.teamfc3s.org/main/factory...ual/1986_1988/
The trailing coil will not fire if: it is not getting +12v at the connector; if it is not grounded properly; if the coil is bad; or if the ECU has decided that the coil is bad.
Pull trouble codes. See if you have a code for the trailing coil. Or any other, for that matter.
Check voltage to and grounding of the trailing coil.
Search on this forum for 'coil tester'. Somebody designed a little circuit that will test the coil.
Is there fuel pressure?
Are the injectors firing?
When was the last time the injectors were cleaned?
Is there a good spark on the leading coil? If so, it should start and run at idle just fine even if the trailing coil is not working.
Have you checked for a flooded start?
If none of that does it, go to the troubleshooting guide in Ch4 of the FSM, find the procedure for 'will not start'. Start at the top of the flow chart and work your way down.
