87 TII Transmission help

We are currently doing a clutch job on a friends rx7. He got a ACT street performance disk and a heavy duty pressure plate. We are the point to where we have to bolt the transmission back to the engine. have not been able to line up the input shaft to the clutch assembly. We have bolted up the two bottom bolts just to hold it place then we inserted the driveshaft and used it as leverege and slightly turned it with no luck. So my question is do you guys have any techniques that have worked good for you guys other than the one mentioned. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Raise the front of the engine so that the rear will lower and the trans will be in alignment with the engine.

Both posts above me are good ideas. I've used ifryrice's method almost every time I do a tranny job. It usually slips on without any problem at all. Be careful that you don't break the pilot bearing trying to force the tranny on.

Ok ill look out for the bearing. Yeah I think my problem is getting the angle just right. I will give them a shot when I get home.

So we finally got the tranny on thanks guys. Does anyone know what the gold thing on the transmission under the shifter is? One of the wires fell of it and I would like to know what it is.
