Thanks!! Right, I decided the FMIC was unnecessary as I plan on only 10psi max. Right now it's pulling a solid 6-7lbs with the BNR Stg 1 w/ 30mm ported waste gate, I'll add a boost controller in a while once I get used to the car.

But all in all I plan on being safe with the stock TMIC. I can monitor intake temps with the Rtek and from what i see so far it looks good.

As far as learning to drive stick. The way i always taught people is this...first yah learn how to light em up then yah learn how not to light em up. It just comes over time with practice. Take it out somewhere you feel comfortable and just practice stops. You'll get the hang of it in a few minutes!

I'm working on my starts on hills now, I just roll part way up my long ass driveway and stop on the hill, I tried the the e brake for the first time the other day - it worked but felt like cheating so bad. My drivewau is gravel too, so it's an extra challenge not to tear up the driveway. I can do it with just feet but it's harder and awkward sometimes. It'll get easier I'm sure.

As for my TII, I just added it to my insurance policy for an extra $18 per month. Couldn't believe that when I heard it but wasn't going to argue. And I just got back from registering it this morning. So we're on the road now.

I just need to pass inspection soon, for this I will be adding back in the ACV and installing a catalytic converter temporarily. Good stuff.

So I installed the Split Air Pipe, the AVC and the Air Pump, I am waiting to take it in for inspection. I'm going to have the shop rehang the exhaust while their adding the catalytic converter so the exhaust stops rattling and hopefully it will hang tighter and more centered in the bumper openings.

My friend had been working on some blank faces for the gauges and I will be hooking up the wide band into the Rtek 2.1 this weekend so we can actually log AFR's.

I also just made a major purchase for the car but I will refrain from posting about it until the appropriate time, hopefully in the next two weeks.

So I got few more things done the other day and got it ready for inspection. I reinstalled the belt for the air pump, put the plastic under panel back on as well as the radiator cover things. Also the wipers and wiper motor was reinstalled.

I mentioned the ACV was reinstalled but I don't think I elaborated. I was testing the ACV when I noticed the vacuum nipple for the Switching Valve wouldn't hold vac, I looked into it to realize the Switching valve was removed entirely,

so this thing should move a decent amount of air to the exhaust ports and split air pipe all the time. Should help to pass.

Just read the thread from start to present... good job on everything. I just got done rebuilding my engine too (but I did internals as well), didn't quite go all out under the hood like that. Mad props to you. Lot's of fun tearing into the almighty 7 eh?

The wheels are 17 x 7 +38 and 17 x 9 +35. I like them a lot; I'm going to have to wait a week or so to get tires but as soon as I have rubber on em I'll post pics of the car with the new wheels.

Rims are schweeeeet! Do you still have the check valve for the ACV? (small rubber disc)?

Nope the check valve disc was missing as well. I checked on the old manifold hoping it was stuck there but it wasn't either. It's supposed to kieepo the exhaust from getting into the ACV right? How big of a deal is this gonna be since it's basically gutted anyway?

SportMax 962's, they come in gold and silver as well as the gunmetal that you see here.

Carbon from the exhaust could cause some sticking of the valve, and the heat would likely kill the diaphragm eventually, but if you're just putting it on to pass a smog check, you might be ok, but I'm not 100% on that.

Yeah it's just a temporary thing with the ACV, it'll be removed right after smog.

I got a hold of a set of ring and pinion gears from a low mileage diff, I'm going to try to have a local 4WD shop put them in a setup the diff. Hope this stops the rear end from whining.

Oh, I also forgot to mention. The new Jspec trans is great compared to my old one, shifts nicely through the gears but the few times I went into 5th gear it might a slight grinding noise. I read up and it seems like the 5th gear synchro tends to be weak, is this whats going on here? How much does it typically cost to have that replaced or can I live with it for now?

Just got back from a nice drive in the TII, the fifth gear thing isn't so bad today, maybe I just have to get used to it more.

I bled the coolant system before I went out and I was watching the coolant temp on the Palm display of the Rx7Logger - it was nice and steady at 185-190' depending on what the roads were like. I did notice that I had a couple drops of coolant on the under tray after the drive, it looks like it's coming from the lower radiator hose where it goes to the radiator - I left the old clamp on cause I ran out of new hoses clamps and low and behold it is dripping. Also looks like there might be a coolant drip from the lower intake manifold - looks like it's coming from one of the nuts on the lower left concer of the manifold, maybe it's loose.

I also noticed a big change in the wideband reading after installing the ACV. It now reads 16 at idle and only goes down when you step on it. It used to read 12 something at idle. The air pump must really be putting a lot of air into the exhaust ports and it's throwing the WB O2 meter way off. I didn't even think about it since I never had the air pump on before, but wouldn't it be a pain to tune any car with the air pump still on since it skews the real A/F ratio or is it just because my ACV is gutted that it's that much of a difference.

I'm going to be removing the air pump and ACV right after smog but I thought this was weird until I realized whats happening. I guess it should help to pass if it's leans it out that much huh??

Okay so I'm dropping the car off Thursday morning for Inspection and some exhaust reworking at a local garage. I plan on putting on a cat w/ flanges for removal and having the exhaust re huing so it doesn't rattle and sits centered.

My family has used this guy a lot recently as he is a great mechanic and completely reasonable with prices. I spoke to him this morning and he was happy to help get the 7 back on the road, he even said upfront that he'll "be lenient with the emissions" due to the age of the vehicle.

I also contacted a local 4WD shop and they are going to be replacing the Ring and Pinion in the LSD sometime in the next two weeks.

Good news for the TII!!
