87 TII, need some help guys!

OK, here's the deal - bought a 1987 RX7 turbo II from my church (was donated not running). Black, nice gray cloth interior, 5 speed, 90K, real nice shape (only one rust area around one rear wheel well). Got it started once, let it run about 5 minutes, drove it around the parking lot, and shut 'er down (mistake #1). Never started again.

I changed plugs, pulled EGI fuse, cranked 30 sec at WOT. Replaced fuse, tried to start at WOT. Car almost starts but go. Did I possibly ruin the new set of plugs? Should I try some ATF? Turns over just fine - compression is good.

Other options - anyone in Chicago area who can help me get it running - it's worth $100 to me (for you). Car is in the northwest Chicago suburbs (Hoffman Estates). Other option - someone can buy the car off me as is, for what I have in it (so I don't have to mess with it) for $900. Only thing I see wrong is an antifreeze leak.

Thanks guys. You've helped me a ton in the past with my 88 vert and my 79 (22K mi).

Sounds like it is flooded. Repeat what you did previously, at least 3-4 times. If that doesn't work, try a little atf.

i have a 88 tII, and i hear most have flooding problems, mine does too. i have a fuel cut switch on mine, which gets it started everytime if it does flood. but actually i was told in person by a guy on the forums, that he pulled his injectors, cleaned them up etc. for a small price, and he has never had the prob again. not sure if thats the prob in your case, but i am looking into it..
