87 sport with ISSUES

I think joshs 87 sport is possesed. just over 2200 on the rebuilt s.p. motor and blam the cluster went totally dead.... other than the speedo. its poping the "meter" fuse every time you try to start it. then 2 days later the blower fan and center warning light cluster died. WTF? Im thinking ecu, the harness was replaced about 6-8 months back. plenty of extra grounds were added. Im stumped

probably have a short in the reverse lights switch or at the tranny.

The ECU would not be related to the gauges at all.

well looking at the wiring diagram the oil, volt, water temp and rpm all do go to the ecu.

No, you need to go read the wiring diagrams again. You have radically misread them or were looking at some other car.

The tach, goes to the trailing coil assembly. The oil gauge goes to the oil pressure sender, the volts goes to the meter fuse, the water temp goes to the water temp sender.

The only three things that go between the gauges and the ECU are the shift light, 20K switch and the boost gauge.

Since you have a sport, you don't have a boost gauge.

Either way the ECU would have nothing at all to do with the fuse blowing there.

Again, you need to check the wiring going to the reverse light (since most of the time the fuse blowning is related to the wires for that being damaged) and if you are still having a problem then start unplugging other things on the Meter Circuit.

I am assuming you have done the most basic things like unplugging the gauges and seeing of the fuse still blows (ruling out anything to do with the gauges)???
