87 GXL, got some questions
Okay, this is the ad:
1987 MAZDA RX7 GXL
WHOLE OR FOR PARTS, NEEDS WORK, POSSIBLE BLOWN COOLANT SEAL, $500
How hard, and how much is it to do the coolant seal? ($ for parts I mean).
I'll probably call the number & it'll be sold, but if its not and it runs/drives, I might go look at it & see that its a huge pile o'shyt.
Anyway, what would be on this '87 GXL? (tranny, body, interior, turbo, etc...)

The GXL is the highest N/A model...it's the "luxury" edition, so you're likely to find all power options, leather seats (possibly), adjustable suspension, 5 lug wheels, etc.
No turbo though. And I'm not 100% sure what is required as far as replacing the coolant seals go, but I think it may call for a rebuild, unfortunately.

So (just in case), about how much does a rebuild cost if I have someone else do it?
Also, how much for parts/machining (if needed) if I do it myself?
Does anybody know where I can get a manual (for free, online or otherwise, need it fast) that shows the removal, rebuild, & re-install procedures needed for the 7, so I can see if this is something I want to do or not?

okay, umm, racingbeat.com wants over $900 for a damn rebuild kit. So my whole thing is like, yeah blow me.
The car doesn't cost that much. So basically there saying that if your 1st/2nd gen is essentially a disposeable car.
So if I get it and it dies, I'll hafta push it off a cliff or somethin cuz its only worth like a dollar. For what it costs for the car & the rebuild ****, I could get a turbo that needs a rebuild, but would actually be fast when it was done.

Okay its not as bad as I thought.
I thought the n/a's were like 100hp, but the n.a.d.a thing says they're 146, which isn't that bad .
Decent power:weight, I dunno anymore. If I had the $900+ to get the rebuild stuff, I'd think about buyin it.

hey, if you have 900 to go into an engine...consider getting a jspec...they aren't new but works just as good for 1/2 the price...
here's where i got mine from: www.fc3s.org

A J-pec engine is a low miles TII motor from Japan they wont work in an N/A sec gen . You are better off getting a rebuilt with a stage II streetport. While you are doing that get an exhaust and cold air intake at the same time. That will give you plenty of power to start with
