86 rx7

a friend here has a 86 rx7 I wanted to get some info and inputs as much as possible with little info I have so far

I havent looked at it yet, I have been busy

guy says its overheating, he doesnt know dick about rotaries so I asked him about the thermostat, hoses etc and he said he heard it was the clutch fan.

Ok question/comment is this enough under normal loads on this year rotary to make it overheat?

Any info or trouble areas to look at would be great before I make it there and then I can ask even more questions. FCs in Japan are a little different then here and I didnt work on them much.

The clutch fan comes on at idle and lower speeds to cool the engine. Past something like 25mph it stops getting power (The clutch disengages). My guess is that yes, it's enough to have it overheat. Replace it, the thermostat, hoses and the radiator while you're at it. And, if you can afford it..the waterpump. Shouldn't have a problem once all that's replaced.
