86 RX-7 rear wheel/end noise source?
Hello,
It's been awhile since I have been on this forum but I still own my original RX-7. Lately it occasionally has a low-pitched howling noise that goes on for a couple of seconds from the rear of the car, and it doesn't matter if I'm turning or going straight, but it only seems to happen during acceleration. I just had the differential fluid changed and it was fine. Could this be a rear wheel bearing going, and if so, is this a big job? Is there anything else I should check?
Thanks in advance for your help and tips.

I'm having a burrr sound in the rear in my 88 under the same conditions.. I changed the diff oil with Redline and had the bearings checked out and they are good. Now I'm hoping it's the old exhaust but I don't have the knowledge to know what else it could be. I know the bushings are bad but I don't know if that's it either. Maybe when one of us finds out we can tell the other. I will be taking the car to a great alignment shop so maybe they can tell me the problem. If they can't figure it out Chris at Banzai Racing will since that will be my next stop.

86 RX-7 rear end/wheel noise source
Thanks for your thoughts. I suspected a rear wheel bearing but never did anything about it...I sold the car last summer to a real car guru, and at that time it was going to need a new clutch soon also...began slipping. Best wishes with your car...I am starting to miss mine!
